#dailynews60 MG’s upcoming SUV in India will get two BS-VI compliant engines and this should be good news for buyers who are eagerly awaiting the same.
The upcoming MG Motor SUV will have two engines which will be BS-VI compliant as per reports. This B-segment offering is expected to launch sometime around H1 2019 and draws inspiration from the Baojun 530 which is sold in the Chinese market. The President & Managing Director at MG Motor India, Rajeev Chaba, stated that the first challenge for the company was that the first SUV was launching prior to the implementation of BS-VI regulations.
There were two choices, namely conversion of engines to be BS-VI ready when the regulations were implemented or to launch the car with BS-VI engines in advance. The second option was chosen after careful consideration and there will be both diesel and petrol variants on offer for Indian buyers. The Indian version will launch as a 5-seater model and will measure approximately 1835 mm, 4655 mm and 1760 mm in terms of width, length and height respectively.
There will be a direct injection turbo petrol 1.5 litre engine on offer along with a turbo diesel 2.0 litre engine sourced from FCA. The SUV will get features like a panoramic sunroof, free-standing infotainment unit, TFT multi-information display setup, leather seats which are power adjustable, electronic parking brake and cruise control.
The MG SUV will take on rivals like the Jeep Compass and Hyundai Tucson in its segment and prices should be competitive due to high localization levels. After this SUV, another electric SUV will be launched by MG Motor in the country as per reports.
If you think MG Motor will be appreciated by car lovers in India, share your feedback. Naysayers are also welcome!
