#dailynews60 The Kia Grand Carnival MPV may launch by 2020 in India and will be a competitor for the Toyota Innova Crysta as per reports. The MPV may be priced a little higher than the Innova Crysta as well.
Kia Motors India has been evaluating the feasibility of the Grand Carnival MPV for the country and this could launch here by the year 2020. The Grand Carnival was shown at the Auto Expo 2018 and the company has conducted market research which indicates that sales volumes of the car may surpass 1, 000 units on a monthly basis.
The 5-door MPV comes in 7, 8, 9 and even 11 seater layouts globally although the 7-seater version may be considered for the Indian market as per reports. The Grand Carnival has a variant that has middle row captain’s chairs and retractable footrests. This may be the preferred configuration for the country according to reports.
The Grand Carnival measures 5115 mm, 1755 mm and 1985 mm in terms of length, height and width respectively. The MPV is bigger than the Toyota Innova Crysta and will be positioned above it in the INR 22 lakh price segment (ex-showroom). The MPV is expected to come with premium features and technologies including multiple USB charging points, curtain and front airbags, dual-sunroof and 3-zone climate control.
The Indian version of the Grand Carnival is expected to come with a diesel engine. It already has a 2.2 litre 200 hp diesel mill although the final version for India may be different. Kia Motors India will first launch the SP Concept SUV that will be available for sale in 2019 after which a compact SUV will be shown at the 2020 Auto Expo.
